WePreserve - Second YouTube Preservation Animation Released

Following on from the great success of the first in this series of short animations, WePreserve is delighted to announce the second Team DigitalPreservation adventure, ...

Team Digital Preservation and the Aeroplane Disaster, is now available for viewing at http://www.youtube.com/user/wepreserve

"We believe these light hearted animations encapsulate complex digital preservation issues and problems introducing and explaining them to the general public in a funny and easy to follow plot. Please fee free to make use of these animations as part of your own work to raise awareness and understanding about digital preservation.

Seamus Ross, Principal Investigator in DigitalPreservationEurope and Dean of the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto (formerly Director of HATII at the University of Glasgow), argues that 'the digital curation practice and research communities need to develop new channels to raise awareness of the challenges posed by digital materials and to make accessible to a wider audience knowledge about research developments in the preservation domain. Animations such as these produced by DigitalPreservationEurope and WePreserve are a first step in this process.

'DPE's activities are now being absorbed by WePreserve which represents the synergistic activities of a number of European digital preservation projects. WePreserve is committed to raise awareness about digital preservation issues among the widest possible audience and to breaking down barriers to access. The release of this series or animations marks an important step reaching this goal.

Future animations will be released on our You Tube Channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/wepreserve
